Our Lady of Guadalupe

Today a couple of friends and their kids helped us commemorate Our Lady of Guadalupe (Dec. 12).

Tomorrow we will pray her chaplet in honor of the unborn.

I served my very non-authentic tacos for lunch. We made Mexican paper roses, crumbled pink panaderia cookies all over the floor, and ended the afternoon with the ceremonial, "It's not fair, they're not letting me play" slam of the bedroom door.

Whew! I don't know how liturgical supermoms do it, month in, month out. Do these traditions get easier with time?

(Many thanks to Alice at Cottage Blessings for her inspirational Guadalupe Tea.)

I think I'm going to have to give up trying to celebrate every liturgically interesting thing on the calendar. It's the most I can do to try to celebrate our saint days.

I love the ceremonial slam of the bedroom door. I think "it's not fair" is the most often uttered (shouted) phrase in our household!

Love your Advent wreath-it's gorgeous!

It's all good. Take the long view! If you light a candle one year, and say a prayer AND light a candle the next, you are doing great.

Your kids will grow up and tell other people "We always had this amazing Guadalupe celebration when we were growing up..."

Keep your sense of humor, girl!
Most of all, enjoy...don't compare...
